Operator Training: How to Maximize Output of UPVC Roof Extrusion Lines

Leave a message

The following are detailed strategies and steps to improve the performance of UPVC wave sheet extrusion machine , divided into two categories: short-term achievable optimization and long-term investment planning.

1, Short term optimization: tapping potential without significant hardware investment

These methods mainly achieve capacity improvement through refined management of existing equipment, processes, and procedures.

2. Optimize extrusion process parameters (process core)

  1. This is the most direct and cost-effective way to increase production capacity. The goal is to find the optimal balance between quality and output.
  2. Coordination between increasing screw speed and optimizing temperature curve:
  3. Simply increasing the screw speed will increase shear heat, leading to high melt temperature, material decomposition difficulty in shaping, and increased internal stress.
  4. Countermeasure: While gradually increasing the screw speed, re optimize the temperature settings of the entire barrel and die. Reduce the temperature of the feeding and compression sections appropriately to prevent premature plasticization; Maintain the temperature of the homogenization section and mold head within the ideal range to ensure that the melt is uniform and the temperature is controllable. It is necessary to use melt pressure sensors and temperature sensors for precise monitoring.

3 Optimize the shaping and cooling system:

After the tiles leave the mold, the cooling speed is the key bottleneck that limits the production speed on the molding machine.

Check the molding machine mold, the softened profile is tightly adhered to the shaping mold, efficiently conducting heat.

  • Optimize cooling system: dissipate heat through aluminum molds and increase sufficient cooling fans
  • Cleaning and maintenance: Regular maintenance of the shaping mold to maintain optimal heat transfer efficiency.

4.Optimize formula and mixing process (material formulation):

Using high-performance additives

Collaborate with your raw material supplier to explore the use of more efficient processing additives (such as lubricants, acrylic additives ACR), which can reduce melt viscosity, minimize frictional heat generation, and allow for higher speeds at the same torque, thereby increasing production.

Quality of premix

Ensure that the materials are evenly mixed and dry. Uneven dry mixing can cause fluctuations in the melt, forcing you to reduce speed to ensure quality. Use a combination of high-speed hot mixer and cold mixer to ensure stable mixing process.

Improve operational efficiency and maintenance (management guarantee)

Reduce startup waste and time

Develop standardized operating procedures for startup, material change, color change, and shutdown.

Train operators to proficiently complete the installation, alignment, and preheating of molds, minimizing the time from start-up to stable production.

Make a production plan and consolidate orders of the same color or formula to reduce the frequency and time of material replacement and cleaning.

Implement preventive maintenance (PM)

Regularly (rather than waiting until it breaks) maintain screws, barrels, check the sensitivity of heating coils and thermocouples, calibrate instruments, and clean scale.

A healthy and efficient device is the foundation for stable and high productivity. Sudden shutdown maintenance is the biggest killer of production capacity.

5.Long term investment: significantly increasing production capacity through hardware upgrades

If the market demand continues to be strong, investing in hardware is the fundamental solution in the long run.

Upgrade core equipment

Replace high-performance screws:

Invest in a barrier screw or high-efficiency hybrid screw. This screw design can more efficiently transport, melt, and homogenize materials, with stronger plasticizing ability and smaller melt temperature difference, allowing for operation at higher speeds and lower temperatures, thereby significantly improving production and quality.

Upgrade the extruder motor and drive system:

If your existing motor and gearbox have reached their maximum torque, you may consider upgrading to a more powerful drive system to provide the power foundation for higher speeds.

With above solution, you may increase the capacity of your UPVC roofing sheet line
